In case there is a delay in paying the penalty, the offenders need to approach the court to get their licences released. Currently, the offenders are handed out challans and their licences are temporarily seized, only to be returned after depositing the fine. This practice is followed by the police in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. This is probably for the first time that the police department has launched such a drive in the state that will help them keep a check on regular offenders.
